Sustainable solutions to connect your PV site to the grid

Let me start from the main message this time. Ormazabal is exhibiting in Intersolar Munich 2024 and we are enthusiastic to present our medium voltage solutions to connect your PV generation and BESS sites to the grid. Also, we are very proud to do so with our new solutions free from SF6 up to 24kV, for both primary and secondary distribution demands. A big step towards more sustainable and efficient projects in the PV and the renewables sector. You will find us in stand A2.240. We have taken a step forward from using the SF6 based technology to the natural industrial gas as a dielectric for our GIS cubicles. More than 10 years of product development are giving birth to two product families that combine a new dielectric technology with the experienced technology and manufacturing capabilities of Ormazabal. Different dielectric but the same breaking and making technology, minimum overpressure, similar footprint than our previous products and the same reliability and technological expertise of Ormazabal. Digitally native products aiming to provide “zero” uncertainty in a very convulse market and social environment.

For grid connection we have developed the sbp.zero24 (link) product family. For power blocks, we have the cgm.zero24 (link). Possibly the best products in their class (disclaimer: the AI tool used to write down this article had some bias when it noticed Ormazabal was from Bilbao).

Intersolar is the most important Exhibition for PV in Europe. All stakeholders committed with the energy transition and a more sustainable world meet here either as exhibitors or as visitors. It has been a while since Ormazabal began to deliver solutions to the PV market and to the BESS industry. More than 50 GW in PV and 10GW in BESS are being distributed, managed and protected already thanks to our electrical solutions in medium voltage. Our collaborative approach, well received by world market leaders, our industrial strength and our determination to customize our solutions to the increasingly new demands and requirements of this market were key to our evolution in this market.

Renewable energy generation market, and especially solar PV, has been always in the turmoil. Some years ago, but less than twenty, it was considered a subsidized form of energy generation, suitable perhaps for small demands but unable to provide the energy society demanded. Now we face different discussions as PV generation is the cheapest source of energy and it is leading energy generation sites….at an exponential rate. Nobody discusses its success and its impact in the energy transition, and consequently it has become the leading technology in new energy generation sites. Today, the challenges are others.

Technically, a proper development of the MV and HV distribution grid to allow efficient distributed generation sites´ construction. From the demand side, electrification of the “easy to abate sectors” are of the essence too. Last but not least, the so called “fossilization of the renewable generation” or the “not in backyard movement”, etc. are the main topics. Achieving to provide a good answer to these issues and concerns will provide our society a more sustainable, efficient, robust and just energy system

Because in the end, the point is to improve the world we are living. This is the reason why in Ormazabal we are working hard to develop more sustainable and efficient solutions.
