The main European manufacturers of electrical capital goods, grouped within T&D Europe, and the European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, held a meeting on Thursday 7 September in Brussels. The meeting, in which Jorge González, CEO of Ormazabal, participated once again this year, discussed the main technological challenges that the European society will face in the coming years.
Industry and institutions had the opportunity to address issues such as the decarbonisation of generation and the electrification of transport in the context of the Fit for 55 programme or the modernisation and “smartisation” of the European electricity grid. At the same time, T&D Europe expresses deep concern that current grid investments and implementation timelines are insufficient and are not progressing fast. It is of utmost importance to ensure that investments at all voltage levels are increased and effective, in order to avoid that the achievement of policy objectives is hindered or delayed due to lack of capacity in the electricity infrastructure.
